Cycling map is a digital service with open data. This project was presented by Kyiv Smart City and the public organization «Kyiv is a cycling city». This is reported by Kyiv Smart City.
The source reports that the bike map was created to collect and record data on the existing bicycle infrastructure of the capital in a single digital information register.
«This information is necessary to evaluate and further forecast the development of the city’s bicycle infrastructure, providing for appropriate planning decisions. Cycling map can be used by citizens or even by authorities, namely – the structural units of the Kyiv City State Administration», – the message said.
In addition, special studies were conducted, the results of which were used to create the map.
«Thanks to the research was conducted in 2017, real data were obtained on the state of the cycling infrastructure of the city of Kiev. It was determined that the total length of bicycle paths and lanes in the capital is 58 km. The total length of public transport lanes, where cycling is permitted from August 2017 is 12 km. Number of locations with equipped bicycle parking – 456», – the message said.
Also note that in 2018 a new research starts which will provide an actual picture of the state of development of the bicycle infrastructure and update the data.
As «The Journalist» reported, the bicycle rental point will appear in Kiev.
