According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, in the first quarter of 2018, the level of the shadow economy amounted to 33% of the official gross domestic product (GDP), which is 4% less compared to the same period in 2017. This was reported on the Ministry’s website.
«The dynamics of unshadowing of the economy is hampered by unsolved problems that negatively affect the development of the country’s economy as a whole. This, in particular: the preservation of significant challenges to the stability of the country’s financial system and the existence of territories beyond Government control, formed during the military aggression in the territory of the country,» – the report said.
The Department of Economic Strategy and Macroeconomic Forecasting of the Ministry of Economic Development has prepared a report on the main trends in this sphere, the unshadowing of the Ukrainian economy and the prospects for improving the business climate in Ukraine.
As The Journalist reported earlier, Groysman believes that further cooperation with IMF will let Ukraine avoid default.
