In Odessa, there has been a sharp increase in the number of cases of hepatitis A. About this reports UNIAN.
Olha Balanovska, chief specialist of the state supervision of compliance with sanitary legislation of the State Service in Ukraine on food safety and consumer protection in the Odessa region, said that since the fall the incidence of hepatitis A began, and the number of patients in 2018 was twice as high as in 2017.
The specialist emphasized that in the first 2 weeks of January of the current year, 35 patients were admitted to the Odessa City Infectious Diseases Hospital for which the diagnosis was confirmed laboratory.
It is noted that in some cases the virus was imported from Asian countries – Uzbekistan, Egypt, and India. According to Balanovska, several local foci were recorded when the whole family had been ill.
