UN: Ukraine’s population will be reduced to 36 million people

The UN Department for Economic and Social Issues experts believe that the population of Ukraine will decrease to 36 million people by 2050, reported by the «Korrespondent».

By 2050 28.5 million (78 percent) Ukrainians will live in the urban environment. Currently, this number makes 69 percent. In this case in Ukraine will be only three ‘million cities’ by 2050. It is noted, that the number of people will decrease substantially. According to the forecast, 43 million 579 thousand people will live in Ukraine by 2020, and this number will decrease to 36 million 416 thousand people by 2050. If the forecast comes true, Ukraine’s population will become the smallest since the level of 1950. Back then, it was 37.3 million people.
As «The Journalist» reported, the population of Ukraine decreased by 200 thousand people.
