UN Special Rapporteur on torture to visit Ukraine

On May 28, the UN Special Rapporteur on torture, Nils Melzer, will visit Ukraine to assess the situation and developments related to the prohibition of torture and ill-treatment. This was reported by the press service of the UN.
The report notes that Mr Nils Melzer will visit the country from 28 May to 8 June, at the invitation of the Government of Ukraine.
Meetings will be held with the members of the Government, human rights institutions, civil society organisations, victims of torture and their families.
Mr Meltzer will visit the occupied cities in Donbas and also conduct visits to the places of detention, prisons and pre-trial facilities.
