Writer and journalist Svyatoslav Bakis presented in Kyiv a book «It depends on the angle you look at: movie art in Jewish lens», created on the basis of about 80 reviews of Jewish cinema writes Ukrinform.
Readers are encouraged to pay particular attention to reviews of films that introduce content of films. It is also known that in book it will be possible to read monographic articles of writer about figures of Jewish cinema. A special feature of collection is author’s critical analysis of many films about Holocaust, which Bakis calls «artificial».
«We need to remember this, but do not need to commercialize», journalist explained.
«This is the first book about Jewish cinema, written in Russian. Because no one has ever investigated such a phenomenon, no one collected the books and films that were made by Jewish directors or on a Jewish theme», said Josef Zisels, co-president of Vaad (Association of Jewish Organizations and Communities of Ukraine).
Svyatoslav Bakis was born in Ukraine, but now he is a citizen of the United States of America and lives in New York.
