In Ukraine, according to recent estimates, about 2 million people are infected with the hepatitis C virus, said Minister of Health of Ukraine executive Uluna Suprun.
«According to recent estimates, about 5% of Ukrainians are infected with the hepatitis C virus. In fact, there are 2 million Ukrainians. Many of them do not even know about their diagnosis», said Suprun.
Minister of Health executive said that this year family doctors will receive test kits for diagnosing hepatitis C in patients who have a high level of risk, writes Unian.
«For today we have almost 53 thousand people officially registered patients with hepatitis C in Ukraine. Many people do not even queue, they do not register, because they do not believe that they will be helped. But this will not happen again. Hepatitis C is no longer a sentence. All patients with hepatitis C who are in line for treatment get high-quality and modern medicines for free starting from this year», Suprun said.
Also Minister of Health executive noted that the effectiveness of these modern drugs in the treatment of hepatitis C reaches almost 90%.
