First, ceremonial events and the laying of flowers took place near the Mariinskiy Park from Hrushevskogo street, near the building of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Also honoring in memory of those killed in the battles for liberation of capital from Nazi invaders took place in the Park of Eternal Glory at obelisk on Alley of Fallen Heroes.
As is known, on November 6, 1943, the troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front, commanded by General Mykola Vatutyn, defeated German troops and stormed Ukrainian capital.

The Battle of Kyiv began on November 1, 1943, with an offensive on the Bukrin bridgehead. For five days, the Soviet army concentrated here operational reserves. Thus, it was possible to chain significant enemy forces to this area and prevent them from being used in the north, where the fate of Kyiv was decided. When a sufficient amount of infantry was concentrated in the area of Lyutezh, the crossing of tanks began. On the morning of November 4, Soviet tanks went out in the area of Pushcha-Voditsa and Kurenivka, where their attack was supported by the 1st Czechoslovak Separate Infantry Brigade. Fearing encirclement, on November 5, German troops began a retreat from Kyiv. On the night of November 6, 1943, advanced units of Red Army entered Kyiv. Thus 778-days occupation of the capital of Ukraine has ended, which began on September 19, 1941.

Some parliamentarians joined the celebrations.
Nataliia Korolevska, a people’s deputy of Ukraine, also took part in events to mark the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Kyiv:

«In honor of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Kyiv, along with veterans, leaders of veterans’ organizations, labor veterans, we came to lay flowers and honor the memory of tens and hundreds of thousands who died during the liberation of our country. We came to honor the memory of those heroes who, in spite of everything, will forever remain in our hearts as heroes, winners and liberators of our antiquity and the city of Kyiv. Today we will also go visit those units of living heroes who have survived to these days, which are difficult today to see how some leaders are trying to rewrite history and level their feat. But that they will not succeed. Today, as then, we need one peaceful sky, a united, strong and prosperous country and a belief in tomorrow, a belief that we will succeed in everything. Eternal memory to the Heroes!».
