In Ukraine today, September 9, celebrate the Day of tankman. This day as a holiday was established in accordance with the decree of the President of Ukraine «On the Day of Tankman» of August 29, 1997.
It is noted that the decision on the need to celebrate this day was adopted in order to support the initiatives of veterans of tank troops and tank builders of Ukraine, taking into account the combat merits of tankmen during the Second World War, and with «aim of educating soldiers-tankers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the best traditions of previous generations».
Tankmen have already been congratulated by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Minister of Defense Stepan Poltorak and head of General Staff of the Supreme Armed Forces Viktor Muzhenko.
