Tomorrow, August 15, a movie titled «Ilovaiskaya istoriya» (Ilovaisk story – ed.) will begin shooting in vicinity of Kyiv. In the center of the plot is the Ilovaisk military operation, which took place in 2014. This was reported by the press service of film production.
The script of an art film is based on the story of the veterans of the Donbas battalion, who participated in the city liberation operation.
«The main storyline unfolds directly in the city of Ilovaisk, which the Ukrainian military liberated in August 2014. It was at that time, when volunteers took control over the left side of the city, to the railway track, and secured it. But during the street battles, the commander of the assault group of the Battalion Donbas, the call sign «Bishut», was injured, along with his wounded colleague, the call sign «Nikitos», remained surrounded by the enemy troops in the center of the city. The soldiers found shelter in an apartment in one of the high-rise buildings and stayed there for about a month. They were survived thanks to the local residents, who helped them during all the time,» – the press-release said.
Mikhail Brynykh has worked on the script for the movie for more than two years. The basis of the story was taken from the media materials about the Ilovaisk military operation, in particular, Byshuta’s interview for Censor.net news agency in August 2015, a video interview with Nikitos for Radio Liberty in August 2015, and others.
It is known that the shooting of the film will last up to October 2018. The premiere of the film is scheduled for August 2019 – the fifth anniversary of the Ilovaisk tragedy.
