Number of measles cases in Ukraine growing – Health Ministry

About 15,095 cases of measles were recorded in Ukraine in January 2019, the press service of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine reported.
Since the beginning of 2019, 15,000 people have become ill with measles in Ukraine. At the same time, less than 55,000 cases of measles were recorded over last year.
“From December 28, 2018 to February 1, 2019, 15095 people got measles in Ukraine: – 6,364 adults and 8,731 children. During the 5th week of 2019, 3,379 people fell ill with measles – 1,499 adults and 1,880 children,” the report said.
The highest incidence rates are recorded in Lviv (in total 2,651 people: 908 adults and 1,743 children), Vinnitsia (1,383 people: 588 adults and 795 children), Rivne (1,389 people: 457 adults and 932 children), Khmelnitskiy (1,058 people: 583 adults and 475 children) oblasts and in Kyiv (1,214 people: 624 adults and 572 children).
As The Journalist reported, the incidence of influenza and ARVI in Zakarpattia reached much higher figure than epidemic threshold.
