Ukrainian service dogs helped policemen to find about 35 kg of explosives and 57 kg of drugs

Head of the cynological service of the country Svetlana Kolomiets spoke about the results of the work of police cynologists and service dogs for the first half of 2018.

It is reported that police cynologists with official dogs are involved in the disclosure of serious crimes, measures to counter terrorism and ensure public safety.
It is noted that in January-June this year cynologists traveled to the scene more than 12,700 times. Among them, more than a thousand – trips on signals about mining facilities with subsequent processing.

«Effective use of search dogs immediately after the commission of offenses contributed to the disclosure of 6,000 criminal offenses. Also, more than 440 explosive devices, 34.5 kg of explosive, more than 100 pieces of firearms and 27,800 rounds», Kolomiets said.

The report notes that the cynologists took part in more than 900 special operations to counter drug trafficking. As a result, 57.6 kg of narcotic substances were detected.
