About this informs official website of President of Ukraine. On October 7th in Kyiv for the first time international marathon «Pride of the Nation: Veterans’ Ten» will take place. The marathon will be held within the framework of the national project of the veteran spirit and unity «Pride of the Nation», which will be held on October 5-8th in capital.
«This event is taking place in order to raise the spirit of our Ukrainian people to pay homage to veterans and honor the memory of those who are no longer with us», says Vadim Sviridenko, President’s Authorized Representative for Rehabilitation of ATO veterans.
Purpose of the project «Pride of the Nation» is to honor those who did not return from the war, express gratitude to those who defend our Motherland, support those who, during war were injured and became ill. Project «Pride of the Nation» should become a symbol of unity of people who change themselves, change the world around them, change the country.
«I would like to ask for help from people, because people like me really need help. Because even to come here, I still needed someone’s help. This Sunday I run my first half marathon. Believe me, this is real, it is possible. Blind people also can do this», assures veteran of the war in the East of Ukraine Oleksandr Popruzhenko, who lost his sight during the fighting.
