Selection of Ukrainian veterans and military personnel for participation in the 43rd US Marine Corps Marathon begins. About this informs «Ukrainian Crisis Media Center». The quota for the Ukrainian team is 10 members.
«First of all, we give preference to the wounded. The purpose of this marathon is to rehabilitate these people in order to bring them back to active life», Vadim Sviridenko, the Ukrainian President’s authorized representative for rehabilitation of ATO participants who were injured, wounded or got other disease, told in the framework of press briefing in the Ukrainian crisis media center during participation in the ATO. Also Sviridenko is a participant in the 41st and 42nd marathon, bronze winner of the Invictus Games in Toronto in 2017.
It is noted that the candidates must confirm that they were injured by the relevant medical documents and undergo physical tests and an interview to confirm their physical and moral readiness to run the necessary distance.
«In the end, we will give preference to people who are able to communicate in English. These are not tough conditions, but this is a reality that must be reckoned with – all teams from different countries of the world live together and they need to communicate together», said General Volodymyr Havrylov, curator of the project.
The selection will be held at the stadium of the Central Sports Club of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on July 20th at 10-00 a.m.
Depending on the severity of the injury, candidates will have to run the distance of 2,5 kilometers.

The Marathon itself will be held in Washington on October 28, with a distance of 10 to 42 kilometers.
The organizers called for the assistance in the event.
«If you want to join, you are welcome, because this is a non-state project, and we must represent Ukraine at high level», summed up Vadim Sviridenko.
