Ukrainian parliament proposes to ban selling plastic bags

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has registered the bill No. 9507, which established ban on the sale of plastic bags in the country, 112. Ukraine reports.
A group of 59 people’s deputies led by the extra fractional people’s deputy Borislav Bereza registered a draft law that prohibits the sale of ultra-light and light plastic bags in stores, pavilions and other retail facilities. Exceptions are biodegradable plastic bags and ultra-light plastic bags designed for the packaging of fresh meat, fish and their products, as well as bulk products. The document also requires marking plastic bags.
Lawmakers propose to establish the State Inspectorate of Ukraine for Consumer Protection to make decisions about the termination of the sale by a company or organization of prohibited plastic bags.
As The Journalist reported, recently installed new turnstiles were closed in the Kyiv metro.
