Verkhovna Rada legalized mechanism for change in subordination for religious communities

On January 17, the Verkhovna Rada has passed draft law No 4128d 4128d that defines the mechanism for the change of subordination by religious communities, LB.ua reports.
The law was backed by 229 deputies.
In particular, religious congregations will be able to vote to choose what teaching or branch they belong to. This decision is certified by the signatures of members of the relevant religious community.
Another part of society, which does not agree with this decision of the majority, has the right to register a new community and conclude an agreement on the use of religious buildings.
If a religious community has decided to change its subordination, it should report such a decision to the central executive body that implements the state policy in the sphere of religion, or to the local regional administration, which will ensure that the decision is made public on its official website.
