**Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople said he sent a message to all parties that Ukraine would been granted autocephaly, since this is her right. **
According to the Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration (AP) of Ukraine Rostyslav Pavlenko, the Patriarch said this performing the Divine Liturgy at the Aghia Foka church in Istanbul.
«In the presence of the representative of the Czech Orthodox Church, the Ecumenical Patriarch said that the Church of the Czech Republic and Slovakia is the newest autocephalous church, which the Ecumenical Patriarchate proclaimed autocephalous in 1998. Now came the turn of Ukraine, which will get the status of autocephaly. I hope that, despite the existing reactions, this will be – this is her right,» – said Bartholomew.
According to the Deputy Head of the AP, the Ecumenical Patriarch made an important statement, which once again showed the position of the mother church: Ukraine will soon receive autocephaly, because this is her right.
«The process of granting autocephaly, which began after the appeal of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and the bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox churches, is drawing to the finish. Ukraine will have its own, Independent Orthodox Church,» – summarized Pavlenko.
As The Journalist reported, Exarchs of the Ecumenical Patriarchate gave Poroshenko a letter from Patriarch Bartholomew.
