The wholesale price of the most popular apple varieties in Ukraine rose by 50-80% in average, and the cost of some varieties has almost doubled, Info-Shuvar reportes.
“As of May 7, 2019, the largest wholesale market of agricultural products in western Ukraine, Shuvar (in Lviv) offered apple variety ‘Golden’ for UAH 10-14/kg; prices for the Aidared and Ligol varieties are set at UAH 7.5-8/kg (EUR 0.25 -0.27/kg) and UAH 10-14/kg, respectively. The cost of the Deksot variety comes up to UAH 8-10/kg,” the message says.
According to the experts, the current price increase associated with a reduction in the supply of apples in domestic stores.
In turn, it is noted that as of today, the Polish apples are more expensive than Ukrainian ones.
