Ukraine sugar export amounted to almost USD 220 mln last year

According to the results of 2018, Ukraine exported 586,500 tons of sugar, which amounted to USD 217.09 million, the National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine (Ukrtsukor) reports.
It is noted that the largest buyers of Ukrainian sugar (in 2018) were Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Libya.
“The last year’s largest buyer of Ukrainian sugar was Sri Lanka (69.03 thousand tons), and this year it is Uzbekistan (285.3 thousand tons). The TOP-3 buyers list is closed by Azerbaijan and Libya – 44.7 and 43.8 thousand tons, respectively,” said Ruslan Butylo, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Ukrtsukor Association.
About 59,000 tons of sugar were exported in December 2018. Thus, about 198.9 thousand tons of sugar was supplied to foreign markets over four months of the current marketing year. This is 14.3% more compared to the same period last year.
