Over the past day, on August 23, the illegal armed groups opened fire on Ukrainian army positions 42 times, three times using weapons prohibited by Minsk agreements. As a result of attack, five Ukrainian servicemen were killed and seven were injured. This is reported by the press center of the Joint Forces Operation HQ on its Facebook.
« The Russian occupiers opened fire from 122-mm artillery systems, 120-mm and 82-mm mortars, armament of infantry fighting vehicles, grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and small arms,» – the report said.
The enemy shelled Ukrainian positions near the settlements of Krymske, Novotoshkivske, Troyitske, Luhanske, Pivnichne, Zalizne, Novhorodske, Avdiyivka, Pisky, Krasnohorivka, Starohnativka, Hranitne, Chermalyk, Hnutove, Pavlopil, Lebedynske, Vodiane, and Shyrokyne.
The enemy intensively used artillery systems and mortars in the areas of the settlements of Krymske and Novotoshkivske, resorted to attempt assault operations.
According to intelligence data, for the past day 12 enemy soldiers were killed, 20 more were injured.
