Price for some vegetables in Ukraine increased by 208% over the year

Some vegetables, bread and cigarettes rose in price in 2018 in Ukraine. But apples, eggs and sugar became cheaper. This was reported on the website of the State Statistics Service.

Inflation in Ukraine in 2018 was 9.8%. Among a number of other products, vegetables have significantly risen in price. In particular, the price for onions increased by 208% over the year, cabbage price increased by 103%. Beets rose by 73%, carrots by 77% and potatoes by 33%.
At the same time, the price for bread also rose twice as strong as the general level of inflation – by 20-23%. Meat, fish and dairy products rose in price within the limits of inflation (about 10%). Cigarettes became more expensive – by 23-27%, and prices for vodka rose by 11%.
It is also noted that some products have become cheaper, for example apples fell in price by 45%, eggs by 9% and sugar by 10%.
