Over the past day, on August 26, militants shelled Ukrainian army positions 23 times, using heavy weapons. As a result of the fighting, two Ukrainian servicemen were killed, seven more were wounded. This was reported by the press center of the the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) HQ on its Facebook.
The Russian occupation forces opened aimed fire from the weapons of infantry fighting vehicles, grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and small arms, and in certain areas using 82-mm and 120-mm mortars, 122-mm artillery systems. It is noted that the shelling was recorded in the Krymske, Novotoshkivske, Troyitske, Pivdenne, Novotroyitske, Hnutove, Lebedynske, Vodiane and Shyrokyne areas. Near the Krymske, Novotoshkivske, Troyitske, Hnutove and Vodiane militants actively used mortars and artillery.
«As a result of the shelling, two Ukrainian defenders were wounded, another two members of the Joint Forces received injuries. Also yesterday, one serviceman was injured and another one received a military-related trauma while stepping on a explosive device during the performance of a combat mission. Two more servicemen were killed and one was injured due to personal negligence as a result of triggering an explosive device,» – the report said.
