The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andriy Zahorodniuk has said that Ukraine is opposed to the disengaging forces and hardware along the entire demarcation line in Donbas. He said this in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

To Zahorodniuk, disengaging of forces is possible in some areas only as a humanitarian component so that “people can cross the demarcation line, and at least there is some kind of economic recovery in the region, since it is very depressing.”

“We stand against the disengagement all over the line, because this contradicts the very nature of the Minsk agreements. Why disengaging of forces, if they [illegal armed formations] have to disarm,” the minister said.

Zahorodniuk noted that in this case the conflict will freeze, and this option categorically does not suit Ukraine.

“This is the wrong way, because it actually agrees with the current situation, saying “well, that’s it, it suits us, it doesn’t suit us formally, but we agree that let it be so.” It makes the tension to ease, no one is talking about the return of the territories anymore, or spoke languidly about it, and the tension in the entire international community is definitely to be demolished, the sanctions will be lobbying and lifting in the end, and all this [conflict] will last for decades,” he added.

As The Journalist reported, Ukraine, OSCE agreed to strengthen SMM activity in Donbas.
