In Ukraine, Kira Muratova Short Film Competition was established for Young Filmmakers «Short Meetings». This reports press service of Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.
Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, together with the Odessa Film Studio and the Odessa Branch of the National Union of Cinematographers, initiated the creation of the competition. The founding date of the competition was timed to the birthday of director Kira Muratova.
It is noted that the first competition named after Kira Muratova will be held in 2019. Its winners will receive cash prizes, as well as the opportunity to shoot their new film projects at the Odessa Film Studio.
«It’s impossible to imagine Ukrainian, and even world cinema, without the figure of Kira Muratova, her contribution to its creation is so great. Her films are examples of high cinema art and inspire artists both in Ukraine and far beyond its borders. That is why the initiative to launch Kira Muratova short film competition «Short Meetings» is extremely important in the context of the government agenda, where the development of national cinema occupies one of the leading places in the field of cultural development», said Yevhen Nishchuk, Minister of Culture of Ukraine.
Recall Kira Muratova died June 6, 2018.
