Zaychenko: Ukraine’s coal reserves in thermal power plants hits historic lows

Coal reserves in the warehouses of Ukrainian thermal power plants amount to 455,000 tons, which is a historical minimum, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

The Chief Operation Officer of NPC Ukrenergo Vitalii Zaychenko at the meeting of the NKREKP noted that half of this coal is concentrated at two stations: 116,000 tons of anthracite at the Luhansk TPP and 105,000 tons at the Slaviansk TPP. The rest of the stations concentrate 220,000 tons.

According to him, the power system survived the last week thanks to the increase in electricity imports from Belarus. However, the transmission capacity between the energy systems of the two countries is not enough to meet the needs of Ukraine.
