The employees of the colony explained their refusal by the fact that, according to the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, Volodymyr Balukh is a citizen of the Russian Federation. However, no information confirming this fact was provided there. This is reported by Crimean Human Rights Group.
However, human rights activists say that Balukh is a citizen of Ukraine, since he did not receive an “automatic” Russian passport in Crimea.
“Earlier, in the Crimea, he was convicted as a citizen of Ukraine. Moreover, the occupation courts used the Ukrainian citizenship of the activist as one of the grounds for taking him into custody,” the statement reads.
The lawyer of the political prisoner, Olha Dinze, said that Volodymyr Balukh still only eats bread and drinks water, his health condition has noticeably deteriorated. He has severe leg swelling, which indicates kidney problems.
Earlier, the “Journalist” reported that the Ukrainian Balukh continued to illegally be held in a penal cell of a colony, where it was insanely cold.
