The Chairman of the board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center Eskender Bariev, said that during the H1 2019, 73 searches, 69 detentions, 97 interrogations and 200 arrests took place in occupied Crimea. Also, 381 cases of violation of the right to a fair trial, 68 cases of violation of the right to the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health were recorded, UATV reports.

Eskender Bariev explained that such Russian actions by its desire to ensure that the “unwanted” residents of the Crimea went beyond its borders, and fill the peninsula with a different, own population, in order to have more control over this territory. The Russian Federation is also trying to demonstrate to the European world that the Crimean Tatars are a threat of Islamic terrorism.

Bariev noted that now the persecution is taking place mainly on a religious basis.

“This is the so-called Hizb ut-Tahrir case, new arrests, detentions, transfer. The most high-profile, massive cases were in March 2019 and in June 2019,” the Chairman of the board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center said.

Bariev drew attention to the fact that about 60 transfers from Crimean detention centers to the territory of Russia were carried out, of which 36 only in the H1 2019, as well as the detention of Crimean Tatar women was recorded in the same period.

As The Journalist reported, Human rights activists urge Crimean occupation authorities to send political prisoner Bekirov to hospital.
