The Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection of Ukraine reported that they plan to gradually stop coal mining and close mines, and find new jobs for miners. This was announced by Energy Minister Oleksiy Orzhel, the press service of the department reports.
“We are becoming more efficient – which means that we must offer a new future for workers of the energy sector. We need to look for new jobs for them: the government, respecting the work of the miners, is looking for how to implement its plans,” Orzhel said.
He noted that coal consumption should became a thing of a past, and it is necessary to develop renewable energy in Ukraine.
