Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Liudmyla Denisova took part in the presentation of the “Personal Data” educational series, during which was announced the launch of a new social advertisement on the personal data protection.
“It is important for everyone to know what personal data is, what are the grounds for their processing, what rights in the field of personal data they have and where they can сomplain in case of violation of such rights,” Denisova said.
In addition, Denisova and Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced the launch of a new social advertising on leading television channels and other information platforms, which will also be aimed at informing Ukrainian citizens about their rights in the personal data protection field.
The “Personal Data” educational series is a joint project of the Office of the Ombudsperson, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the UN Development Program in Ukraine and the “PrivacyHub” NGO.
The Commissioner also said that it is necessary to conduct educational activities for citizens, using materials from this series and disseminate it as much as possible.
“Educational activity is a strategic area of work of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights. Raising awareness is protecting a person from the arbitrariness that is currently happening in the field of personal data protection. We are also working hard to identify and hold accountable those who disseminate such data. But it is very important for a person to know his rights,” Denisova said.
She expressed hope that together with partners, new projects will be implemented to increase citizens’ awareness of rights in the field of personal data protection.
