As part of the jubilee Odessa International Film Festival, legendary Cossacks will be shown at Potemkin Stairs this year, accompanied by a symphony orchestra.
About this reports official page of the festival.
“Cossacks” is a 1928 American-German drama film created and distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) directed by George Hill and Clarence Brown. The film played by John Gilbert and Rene Adoree.
The plot of the film is based on the novel “Cossacks” by Leo Tolstoy 1863: the main character is the ataman’s son Lukashka. He does not want to follow the unshakable rule “a man must fight, and a woman work” and refuses to participate in the war. His pacifist views lead only to constant jokes from his comrades and almost to a break with his beloved. In the end, it was Lukashka who became a warrior and side by side fighting with his father against the Turks.
An open-air film screening on the Potemkin Stairs always attracts a large audience.
Recall the 10th Odessa International Film Festival will be held from July 12 to 20.
