Minister of Health Maksym Stepaniv said that Ukrainian government provide enough money to increase the salaries of doctors who treat COVID-19 patients. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health.
He noted that the funds for March have already been allocated to the regions, and the mechanism for raising salaries in April will be adopted at a government meeting on April 22.
“As it was promised, we solved the issue of salaries for health workers. It is important to separate increased payments in March from all subsequent months. If we are talking about March, then this issue has been fully resolved by the Government and the Ministry of Health. All funds from the state budget are allocated to regions at the expense of a medical subvention,” Stepaniv said.
He also added that the health ministry did all the calculations and now it is up to the local authorities and the management of the relevant medical institutions. Payment of salaries starting in April will be carried out by another mechanism.
“This resource was provided for by changes to the state budget adopted last week. The document has already been signed by the President and provided about UAH 15.8 billion for increased salaries to all health workers involved in activities to curb COVID-19, without exception. At the next Governmental meeting of the will be made decision on how the corresponding salary will be charged. These funds will be transferred to the regions without delays,” Stepaniv said.
