Due to Gazprom’s refusal to supply Naftohaz Ukrayiny with gas in March 2018 at a price determined by the decision of the Stockholm Arbitration, Natfogaz incurred more than USD 110 million losses.
At the same time, Gazprom will have to compensate these funds to the Ukrainian side, UNIAN news agency reported.
«As a result of the Stockholm Arbitration decision, Gazprom was supposed to sell gas to us [Ukraine] from March at a price at the level of the German market. Gazprom does not fulfill its obligations, does not comply with the arbitration award, and does not deliver gas. We buy gas in the European market. We have already begun arbitration. Through arbitration, we will force Gazprom to compensate us for the difference between the gas cost that we are buying now in the European market and the gas cost that should have been under the contract changed in the arbitration,» – Yuriy Vitrenko, the Commercial Director of Naftogaz, said.
«According to our calculations, the amount of payment they must do already exceeds USD 110 million,» – Vitrenko said.
As The Journalist reported, Russia does not guarantee transit of gas through Ukraine after 2019.
