European Commission has introduced tariff quotas for 11 types of Ukrainian metal products, reports press-service Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine.
According to the agency, on July 19th, the decision of the European Commission on protective measures in the framework of the investigation of metal products came into effect. The general subject of the investigation includes 28 types of metallurgical products, with respect to 23 types of which temporary measures are introduced in the form of a tariff quota for a period of 200 days.
In total, 11 types of Ukrainian metal products fell under the protection measures, namely: hot-rolled sheets and strips, cold-rolled sheets, steel square billets, bars, stainless steel bars and light sections, unalloyed and alloyed steel wire rods, corners and special profiles, pipes for gas pipelines, profile sections, seamless stainless pipes, unalloyed wire.
«The Ministry of Economic Development together with Ukrainian producers defend the position in the framework of the investigation procedure that: the EU does not have sufficient grounds to initiate an investigation in accordance with WTO requirements, and also taking into account the current state of development of the EU metallurgical industry», the Ukrainian department believes.
