Verkhovna Rada will consider amendments to Constitution regarding Ukraine’s membership in EU and NATO

Chairman of Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Affairs Anna Hopko stated that on September 20 Verkhovna Rada will consider amendments to Constitution regarding course of Ukraine for acquiring membership in European Union and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

«One of the main tasks, except for changes in the Constitution, is to work on a consensus in the parliament», said Hopko.

Parliamentarian noted that issue of amending the Basic Law on accession to NATO and European Union has already been considered in several committees, reports Ukrinform.

«There is still a special committee, that is, on September 18-19 all committees will be on, and it is planned to make the 20th on the first reading», said Hopko and reminded that at least 226 votes are needed to pass a relevant decision.
