48 Ukrainian tourists were stuck in the airport of Batumi in Georgia. As reported on the website Prestupmosti.net. our fellow countrymen from Myikolaiv were supposed to return to Ukraine on June 30th.
It is noted that the Ukrainians came to Georgia for a festival with children. The flight was provided by the airline «Bravo Airways».
«The flight was due to take place at 15.30, it was postponed to 19.10, then another half an hour, an hour, etc. The travel company is not responding, their site, as I was told, is blocked. 19 children from the age of one and older are at the airport with their parents. The plane was picked up and put in Kyiv, supposed it is not working. Nobody explains anything», said Oksana, a witness of events.
She noted that the first secretary of the Ukrainian Embassy in Georgia Lubomyr Korol refused to provide tourists with water, food and accommodation, referring to the lack of funding from the Ukrainian side.
On July 1st, the hostages of circumstances in the embassy said that «the situation is catastrophic» and yet promised to help tourists.
According to the tourist, the some people in the group have traumas: the boy has a broken leg, the girl also has a leg injury – she had a fever, tourists fear that there will be gangrene. One operation to girl’s leg was done in Georgia, and the other was to be carried out in Ukraine after the arrival. But she had to turn again to Georgian doctors, who simply put an antiseptic bandage on her.
It is noted that last night tourists spent in hotels, but they are already running out of money for housing and food.
«All tour operators make a helpless gesture, no one can help. Children are hungry for the second day, we are located next to the airport today for their money as they could but many have no means left. We call the airline from 18.30, but still no one answers. Even the representative of this airline is not in Georgia», – says another tourist Yana Molodai.
In turn, the head of the consular department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vasyl Kirilich said that in the evening in Batumi a plane will fly out, which will take a group of tourists from Mykolaiv, reports Unian.
