The press service of Ukroboronprom reported that the state-owned enterprise Kharkiv Design Bureau of Mechanical Engineering named after Morozov transferred 12 BTR-4E armored personnel carriers as part of state defense order for 2019 to the Ministry of Defense.
Armored personnel carriers were accepted by the military acceptance department of the Ministry of Defense and transferred to the disposal of the 92nd separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“The armored personnel carriers are already transferred to the AFU unit, after payment was received. This is an example of the coordinated work of many people interested in restoring production and fulfilling the state defense order,” Aivaras Abromavičius, Director General of Ukroboronprom, said.
The renewal of the contract allowed the new management of Kharkiv Design Bureau to return the team to work, as well as to draw up and coordinate a production and supply schedule with all contract co-executors.
“This is about 45 BTR-4E units that Kharkiv Design Bureau was supposed to deliver to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine under the contract concluded on December 28, 2016 to implement the State Defense Enhancement Program and meet the urgent needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is one of the Concern’s largest contracts within the framework of the state defense order. The financing of the contract was provided for by UAH 1.5 billion of credit funds issued under state guarantees. Because of unscrupulous actions by officials, company executives and co-executors, the contract was disrupted for 3 years after being signed, the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not receive a single piece of equipment, and the Kharkiv Design Bureau was on the verge of collapse and bankruptcy. The delivery time for the production of armored personnel carriers passed back in June 2019,” the Concern noted.
