Today, August 29, the Verkhovna Rada of the IX convocation will hold its first session. The elected deputies must take an oath before the opening of the first Rada’s session, the text of which is determined by Article 79 of the Constitution of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.
The oldest MP, 78-year-old Julius Ioffe, will open the first meeting of the first session of the newly elected Verkhovna Rada. After that, the preparatory deputy group should report on the work done by the first session of the Verkhovna Rada of the new convocation.
During the first meeting, the Provisional Bureau of the first session of the newly elected Verkhovna Rada will be formed. The preparatory deputy group approved its composition: Dmytro Razumkov (“Servant of the People Party) – chairman of the group, Ruslan Stefanchuk (Servant of the People Party), Julius Ioffe (Opposition platform – For life), Andriy Kozhemiakin (Batkivshyna), Mykhailo Zabrodsky (European Solidarity) and Yaroslav Zhelezniak (Holos Party).
The deputy fractions and deputy groups should be formed at the first VR meeting.
After that, the deputies will elect members of the Counting Commission. The deputies should also have time to approve the list and composition of the committees, as well as decide on the procedure for work of the Verkhovna Rada.
The Servants of the People Party MP Ruslan Stefanchuk said that the Verkhovna Rada will work on August 29 until the completion of the agenda, which includes 27 issues, RBC-Ukraine reports. According to Stefanchuk, the Council will support all personnel decisions today. He also said that the Parliament can vote for the bill on parliamentary immunity today.
