President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during a meeting on February 28 with the Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis proposed to develop by the European Union of a package of special socio-economic assistance to the Ukrainian Azov Sea. “The President of Ukraine welcomed the planned visit of Valdis Dombrovskis to the Ukrainian Azov Sea Region and addressed the Vice-President of the European Commission with a proposal for the EU to develop a special package of socio-economic assistance to this region," the statement said.
In addition, Poroshenko and Dombrovskis discussed the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding and the loan agreement between Ukraine and the EU regarding the Fourth Program of Macro-Financial Aid to Ukraine worth EUR 1 billion.
Poroshenko and Dombrovskis also mentioned topic of confrontation over Russian aggression in Donbas and in the Sea of Azov, as well as the release of all Ukrainian prisoners of war.
“The Vice-President of the European Commission highly appreciated the efforts made by President and the Government of Ukraine in implementing political and socio-economic reforms and assured the continuation of full support of Ukraine for the transformation and implementation of the Association Agreement,” the statement reads.
