The State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection conducted a study of drinking water from centralized sources in Ukraine, and in almost 9% of samples water quality did not comply with the standards for drinking water, the press center of the State Agency reports.
“According to the research, 1,15 thousand (8.9%) drinking water samples taken from centralized water supply sources, as well as 1,981 (29.7%) sample from decentralized water supply sources did not meet with the legislative requirements,” the press center said in a statement.
The ministry stated that polluted water caused six outbreaks of diseases, including one related to open drinking water sources (220 people suffered, 121 children) against seven outbreaks in 2017 (295 people, 151 children) .
