Naftogaz sued Ukrtransgaz’s subsidiary on UAH 5 bln over non-compliance with the contract

Naftogaz of Ukraine won a UAH 5.2 billion lawsuit against Ukrtransgaz subsidiary over improper compliance of latter with the contracted terms of payment for received gas: more than half of the amount is penalty and inflation costs.

According to the decision of the Kyiv Economic Court, Ukrtransgaz JSC must pay UAH 2.048 billion – the amount of principal debt, UAH 1.687 billion – penalties, UAH 0.332 billion – 3% per annum, UAH 1.314 billion – inflation losses and 611 thousand UAH – the cost of the court fee, in favor of Naftogaz of Ukraine.

The case file notes that the plaintiff (“Naftogaz”) transferred to the defendant’s ownership (“Ukrtransgaz”) natural gas in a total volume of 1 517 900, 54 thousand cubic meters which total cost is over UAH 13.397 billion in the period from January to April, 2017. At the same time, the defendant proved the payment of only part of the amount, thus forming a debt in the amount of UAH 2.048 billion.

As The Journalist reported, the money from the custom clearence of the cars with European registration plates will be used for indexation of pensions.
