More than 35,000 nurses and midwives began a strike in Ireland. Dissatisfied medical workers demand to increase their wages and improve working conditions, The Guardian reported.
“Tens of thousands of nurses and midwives began a strike in Ireland, demanding to increase their wages and improve working conditions. The government refuses to meet their demands, stressing the need to save money over possible Brexit,” the report says.
The labor union noted that the strike is the first action, and added that over the next two weeks, five more actions are planned. Protesters motivate their actions by the fact that nurses and midwives work more hours, but receive less wages than in 2008, during world financial crisis.
As The Journalist reported, woman and her four children were beaten to death with wooden sticks in India for witchcraft.
