Peruvian scientists have developed potatoes, which can help in the fight against children anemia, Agronews reported.
The report notes that specially bred potatoes will help in the fight against children anemia (anemia – ed.).
According to the Ministry of Health of Peru, 46.6% of the population suffers from iron deficiency anemia at the age of 3-4 years, in the mountainous regions of the country this percentage reaches 75%.
Scientists say that INIA 328-Kulli Papa purple potato contains two times more of useful antioxidants, iron and zinc, than regular potatoes.
It is noted that this vegetable is picky and can grow in any conditions, even at an altitude of more than 4,000 meters above sea level.
As The Journalist reported, Ukraine had opened the largest plant for the production of starch.
