A new Pridniprovie airport can be constructed near the village of Solyone on the administrative border between the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.
This was announced by the Chairman of the Dnipropetrovsk regional council, Gleb Prygunov, Hromada inform agency reported.
«Specialists from all over the country were involved in the development of the airport project. There were many proposals for the construction site of the new terminal and the runway. The construction of a large hub on the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts border will allow to combine passenger traffic between this two oblasts. This large-scale project is a step towards the civilized future of the two oblasts,» said Prygunov.
It is planned to allocate UAH 200 million from the draft budget for the construction of the airport, but an amendment to the draft state budget for the next year has already been registered and provide even more funds for these purposes – UAH 1 billion.
Prygunov quoted the words of the Сhairman of the budget committee of the Verkhovna Rada, Andriy Pavelko, who said that the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, at the last meeting with the Cabinet of Ministers, has set the task to start the construction of the airport.
«It will be named Pridniprovie airport, and it should be constructed near the village of Solyone,» the report says.
