The United States supports a number of Ukraine’s initiatives aimed to increase transparency of its energy market, including the idea to divide the Naftogaz of Ukraine.
This is stated by the United States Secretary of Energy Rick Perry at the meeting with the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman, 112 Ukraine news agency reported.
«We would like to support the Naftogaz’s efforts regarding the separation of gas production and distribution, the liberalization of the electricity market and increasing transparency in this industry,» said the American minister, adding that the US is ready to assist in these areas.
Perry also spoke positively about the new Ukrainian initiatives regarding the geological discovery of gas and oil for future production, as well as simplifying the licensing of subsoil use.
«All these recent events are showing a really positive message to both the US government and the US private sector, as well as to your European colleagues. This indicates that Ukraine takes the reform process and the creation of a center for energy resources very seriously,» said the US Secretary of Energy.
As The Journalist reported, US private companies and government offered Ukraine assistance in developing energy infrastructure.
