US President Donald Trump has prolonged for another year the anti-Iran sanctions, imposed back in 1979. This was stated in a Trump’s letter to Congress.
The sanctions, which were imposed almost 40 years ago, have been extended for a year.
According to Trump, Iran-United States relations have not yet normalized.
Recall that US President Jimmy Carter has signed an anti-Iran sanctions decree in 1979, after the US Embassy in Tehran was seized by Iranian students. The document gives the power to the US authorities to impose sanctions and other measures, as well as regulate trade with Iran. In particular, it blocks any Iran’s state property in the United States jurisdiction area.
As The Journalist reported, US State Department announced additional sanctions against Russia over chemical weapons.
