The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine did not support the draft law on primary medical care. It was backed by 126 people’s deputies out of the required 226 votes for the adoption of normative acts, 112. Ukraine reported.
The draft law was introduced by the deputy head of the committee on health issues, the MP from Samopomich political party, Iryna Sysoenko, who is one of law’s authors.
«The draft law proposes to determine which exactly medical institutions are the first level institutions. These are the health care centers, which should include family medicine ambulatories … This bill defines family doctors, pediatricians, therapists, and also dentists as the first-level physicians. Therefore, the returning of the dentists to the list of first-level physicians is the essence and content of this bill,» said Sysoenko.
The bill also proposes to leave the rural feldsher-midwife stations, but renaming them into Family Medicine Centers.
Recall that Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted laws on medical reform and telemedicine in the rural areas in the fall of 2017.
