The Government has decided to allocate land on the territory of the Chernobyl exclusion zone for the construction of wind energy facilities, the press service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine reported.
According to the Head of department, Ostap Semerak, the decision concerns permit for the development of a land management project at several sites in the Ivanksvskiy district (Kyiv Oblast) with a total area of 7 hectares for construction of wind energy facilities.
«The government has supported the proposal of the Ministry of Natural Resources to develop the Chernobyl exclusion zone as a territory for changes and innovations. A was allowed to develop wind power in the Chernobyl zone. It is important that renewable energy facilities do not require the constant people presence and are absolutely safe for the environment,» said Semerak.
According to the minister, the exclusion zone has a high level of investment attractiveness.
«This is confirmed by investors from around the world. They are ready to invest money,» explained Semerak.
