Saudi Arabia has been planning to build 15 nuclear reactors for two decades; one of such research reactors has already been launched. This is reported by Radio Liberty.
It is reported that the construction and launching of nuclear reactors are aimed to the development of new types of the nuclear industry and increasing of the efficiency production of the Kingdom’s energy system.
It is noted that the project cost is USD 80 billion.
In turn, West Countries are concerned about the Saudi Arabia decision to build nuclear reactors in connection with the nuclear race between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
«Riyadh, like Tehran, claims its goal is the development of peaceful nuclear technologies,» said in a statement.
However, in March 2018, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman warned that if Iran will develop nuclear weapons, Saudi Arabia will also do so.
As The Journalist reported, the Saudi authorities released the prince, criticizing the ruling regime.
