Soon the highest monument in the world will open in India – Statue of Unity (182 m high). The statue is still being built, but already in October the authorities planned to officially open it, reports Ukrinform.
«The height of the statue, which is now being built in Gujarat, will be 182 meters. It is dedicated to Sardar Patel – hero of struggle for independence of India, who is also one of the co-authors of Constitution and founders of country’s political system», report said.
It is noted that the cost of building monument was about $ 330 million. The main initiator of project is Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Celebrations on the occasion of the opening of Statue of Unity are scheduled for October 31.
At the moment, the status of the highest statue of the world holds Buddha monument in Spring Temple in China – the statue, whose height is 128 meters, stands on a 25 meter pedestal.
