In the United States of America, a documentary film was created about Ukrainian servicemen who underwent rehabilitation after being wounded in the ATO zone. This was told in the studio of The Journalist by the editing director and co-author of the movie «Rehab» Andriy Korotun.

«This is a documentary about ATO veterans’ rehabilitation in America. This idea has appeared when first Ukrainian warriors came to rehabilitation to Los Angeles, thanks to Irina Vashchuk and her organization. We met with these guys, began to shoot video, and a little later came an idea to make a documentary. We decided to show their stories, because during shooting there were many interesting conversations, dialogues, guys told their stories about injuries, treatment and rehabilitation in Ukraine, we thought that these stories people want to hear», – said Andriy Korotun.

«Rehab» film tells life stories of six Ukrainian soldiers who were seriously injured in the east of Ukraine, defending our state. The plot is built on the dialogues of the heroes, who first of all talk about difficulties that they had to endure not only in the war, but also after the injuries received. During the interview, Andriy Korotun told stories of those veterans who took part in the creation of the film.
«Serhiy Titarenko is a helicopter navigator who took part in the liberation of Slavyansk. His helicopter was shot down. He miraculously survived, received a severe wound to spine and thus was paralyzed. Another of our hero Rustam Ambrosov was injured in spine during shelling, when our military stopped at the enemy’s block post. Volodymyr Gera – aimer gunner, he was wounded also during shelling, as a result of which he was also paralyzed. At first, Volodymyr was rehabilitated in Germany, but this was not enough, so he continued in the United States. Andriy Muzychenko was wounded when he made reconnaissance with his co-militaries. Guys went on APC, so that the enemy opened fire on them. Thus, it was possible to determine where the enemy’s positions were. Andriy Usach as a result of explosion received a hand injury, injured his jaw and remained without his left leg. Ihor Petruk was also seriously injured. Despite such circumstances, guys have plans for the future, a thirst for life. With this movie, we have been working since 2015, we wanted to draw the attention of society to the issues and problems of such people as our heroes», noted the co-author of the film.

According to the film’s creators, they hope that the tape motivates our defenders to come to rehabilitation in the US, support veterans in their homeland, and help create the necessary conditions for them at home in Ukraine.

«Looking ahead, I will say that Irina Vashchuk, who is engaged in organization of rehabilitation of military ATO in the US, plans to raise funds and open in Ukraine, in Kyiv, same rehabilitation center as in the US, with American professional equipment. We hope that in this way it will be possible to provide an opportunity for rehabilitation and help more Ukrainian veterans. It is planned that this center will be able to accept up to 40 people, while to America; only a few can go for rehabilitation. Therefore, there is such a need», – said Andriy Korotun.
